University of Liverpool medicine interview: the MMI and what Liverpool values
Around 1,900 home interviews for 292 places, and your personal statement isn't used to invite you but is 'likely to be explored' once you're in the room.
Updated September 2026The University of Liverpool interviews around 1,800 to 1,900 home applicants and about 120 international applicants each year for its A100 programme, which has 292 home places and 23 places for EU and international students. Invitations go to the top admissions-test scorers (UCAT, or GAMSAT for graduates) among those who meet the academic minimums, and home applicants with a UCAT SJT band 4 are unsuccessful. Home applicants take a face-to-face MMI on campus; international applicants take an online MMI; the admissions team decides the format, not the applicant. Interviews run in January and February. Liverpool does not use the personal statement to decide who is invited but says it is likely to be explored at interview, and it frames the whole process around the GMC's 'Selecting for Excellence' and values-based recruitment, listing four non-academic attributes it values from healthcare career insight to the values that underpin good practice.

- 1Applications that meet the academic minimums are ranked on the admissions test (UCAT for school leavers; GAMSAT for graduates). The highest scorers are invited. Home applicants with SJT band 4 are not invited. The personal statement is not used at this stage.

Interview questions
Liverpool does not publish its station questions or station count. The practice questions below are Merra's, written to the four attributes Liverpool lists and to the Medical Schools Council values it points to; they are not Liverpool's own.
