University of Bristol medicine interview: six stations, three assessors each

Updated September 2026The University of Bristol runs its medicine interview remotely on Zoom as a structured interview of about 30 minutes made up of six stations. Each station is assessed by three people: two groups of three assessors each mark three stations, their scores are combined per station, and the six station scores make your final interview score. Bristol is one of the few schools that names a pre-reading text: the GMC's 'Achieving Good Medical Practice: guidance for medical students', which it says will help you answer some of the questions and scenarios. There is no reading or writing task in any assessment, no feedback on the day, and connection problems are not penalised. You must respond to your invitation within two weeks or your application is made unsuccessful, and offers are usually only issued once all interviews are complete, so a decision can sit on hold for months.

- 1Invitations are sent for the December to February interview window. You must respond within two weeks or your application is made unsuccessful, and you must attend an interview to be considered.
- 2Pre-reading set by Bristol: the GMC's 'Achieving Good Medical Practice: guidance for medical students'. Bristol says it will help you answer some of the questions and scenarios posed.
- 3On the day: join Zoom at your arrival time with photo ID; the interview starts ten minutes later after a candidate briefing and connection and sound checks.
- 4The interview: about 30 minutes, structured, six stations. Two groups of three assessors each mark three stations; scores are combined per station and the six station scores form your final interview score. No reading or writing is required in any assessment.
- 5Rules: do not discuss the questions afterwards; no devices, AI or notes beyond written notes to help your own answers; no recording. Breaches are treated as fitness-to-practise matters. Bristol does not record the interview.
