Spotify hires software engineers across its consumer app, platform, data and ML, ads, and backend infrastructure, and runs a loop that is notably values-driven — the culture round is a genuine filter, not a formality, and it kept its weight all the way through the layoff years. Technically, Spotify cares more about a clean, well-narrated medium-difficulty solution than a messy hard one.
