Qualcomm Interview Questions & Process
Embedded Software Engineer, Systems Software Engineer, GPU/Driver Engineer, and Modem/DSP Software Engineer
Updated July 2026Qualcomm hires software engineers for embedded and systems software, modems, DSP, multimedia, drivers, and platform work, and its loop is fundamentals- and resume-driven rather than algorithm-heavy. For embedded roles specifically, expect strong embedded C, RTOS concepts, and real-time system design to be the core of the technical rounds.
The process typically runs two to four rounds for general SWE and up to five for embedded roles: a recruiter screen, a timed HackerRank online assessment (around 90 minutes mixing multiple-choice on C/C++, operating systems, and computer architecture with two to three easy-to-medium coding problems), one or two live technical rounds, and a hiring-manager round that works as a project deep-dive into the technical decisions you made in past roles.
The cost of walking in unprepared
Qualcomm's process runs 5 stages. Most candidates only find out they weren't ready once the result lands.

Qualcomm interview FAQs
Does Qualcomm use HireVue?
Qualcomm screens with a HackerRank online assessment and live technical rounds; its process doesn't describe a universal recorded-video HireVue stage.
How many rounds are there?
Two to four for general SWE and up to five for embedded roles — a recruiter screen, a HackerRank OA, technical round(s), and a hiring-manager deep-dive.
How hard is it?
Fundamentals-hard: strong C/C++, OS, and computer architecture matter more than exotic algorithms, and embedded roles need real RTOS and real-time depth.
How long does it take?
A few weeks up to about six, depending on team and scheduling.
