The McKinsey interview process

  1. 1Structured Resume Screen. Rigorous review of academic achievement, high-impact extracurricular work, and quantifiable leadership evidence.
  2. 2McKinsey Solve Digital Assessment. Interactive simulation games, such as ecosystem-management scenarios, designed to assess problem solving without requiring formal business theory.
  3. 3First-Round Interviews. Usually two or three sessions led by Engagement Managers. Each combines roughly 10 minutes of Personal Experience Interview (PEI) with a 30-to-45-minute interviewer-led case.
  4. 4Second-Round Interviews. Final interviews led by Associate Partners or senior Partners, with more demanding business cases and deeper PEI probing.
