BCG Interview Questions & Process

Boston Consulting Group is a leading global strategy firm known for business innovation and close work with senior executives on complex problems. It screens for creativity, quantitative problem solving, relationship building and sustained achievement, and its process puts a digital case in front of you before any live interviewer sees your name.

That digital stage is the Casey chatbot: an interactive case run in a chat interface, typically eight to ten questions across roughly 25 to 30 minutes, mixing multiple-select questions, short quantitative answers and longer free text, and ending with a recorded video recommendation of about a minute. It is now used across the large majority of BCG offices worldwide. In the US a broader Consulting Career Assessment may go to all applicants shortly after submission, while the online case is selective, with invitations typically arriving a couple of weeks after the deadline. Treat it as an elimination gate, because candidates who do not clear it generally do not reach live interviews.

The interviews that follow are candidate-led, which is the key difference from McKinsey. First round is usually two 45-minute sessions with senior consultants, roughly 15 minutes of behavioural assessment plus a 30-minute case. Second round is with Partners or Senior Partners. Because you drive the case, the expected behaviour is to build a complete structure up front, state a hypothesis, ask for the data you need rather than waiting for it, find the root cause and close with a commercially grounded recommendation.
