BlackRock Interview Questions & Process

BlackRock is the world's largest asset manager, and its graduate process is built around two things: a recorded pre-interview assessment that comes first, and its culture, which it evaluates through the BlackRock Principles. It recruits across Investments, Portfolio Management, Research, Risk & Quantitative Analysis, the Aladdin technology platform, Analytics & Modeling, Client businesses and Software Engineering — and the pre-interview assessment is programme-specific.\n\nYou apply online and complete the recorded assessment before any live interview: in EMEA you get three minutes to prepare and up to 90 seconds to answer each question, one sitting, submitted within five days — and it can't be retaken. The three questions typically cover 'why BlackRock/this role', a time you solved something with a team, and a view on a global event; Software Engineering and Analytics & Modeling candidates also get a coding test. Live interviews then probe the BlackRock Principles, your experience and capabilities, and may add a group exercise, presentation, case study or technical questions. For investment roles, be ready for performance attribution, the Sharpe ratio, duration/convexity and the yield curve, asset allocation, and a genuine stock pitch — plus the ability to explain a bond in plain English.
