University of Sheffield Pre-CAS Interview Questions 2026
Intention to study · Academic history · Finances · Personal background · Your course · English
Updated July 2026The University of Sheffield — a Russell Group university — doesn't run its own pre-CAS interview; the credibility interview you should prepare for is the Home Office's. You're usually required to attend it at the visa application centre when you provide your biometric information, and it's conducted in English by a Home Office staff member, most often via video link. For your application to be accepted, the entry clearance officer must be satisfied both that you're a genuine student and that your English is at the required level.
Sheffield's guidance groups the questions into four areas: your finances, your academic history, your intention to study, and your personal background — and it publishes a 'Typical credibility interview questions' PDF with tips. You may be asked to a second interview (arranged by email or phone), and UKVI may also contact you mid-application for more information, commonly on the source of your funds. Sheffield's ISSAC team offers advice if that happens, so don't go it alone.
The cost of walking in unprepared
