University of Leeds Pre-CAS Interview Questions 2026

Why Leeds · UK · Your course · Immigration & history · Finances · Future plans · Reasoning

Updated July 2026

The University of Leeds — a Russell Group university with a very large international community — does not run its own pre-CAS interview. Only taught postgraduates pay a deposit (£2,000) before the CAS, and the CAS is emailed once you accept (and, for PGT, pay the deposit); you don't request it. The interview you should prepare for is UKVI's: anyone applying for a Student visa from outside the UK can be interviewed, so a strong offer from Leeds doesn't mean you'll skip it.

Leeds's own guidance is useful and specific about the UKVI interview. If selected, you'll be asked to be available for an online, telephone or in-person interview, and a caseworker may ask about the information in your application form, your immigration history, your course, your personal and financial circumstances, why you want to study in the UK and at Leeds, your education and employment history, and your future plans. Leeds's key advice: be prepared to explain your thought process in detail and give specific examples for the choices you've made — and ask for a copy of the interview transcript at the end.
